Desperate to catch a Lake Trout on this trip and knowing our current situation with our boat meant there was no way we were going to risk trying to go to the Big Water, we hired a guide today.
OMG, what a day!
We put Holly in her life jacket and she was there for all the fun.
The technology the guide has is unbelievable. He has an electric trolling motor that is GPS enabled that follows a course so you are always fishing at the right depth. On top of that he has an optical scanner from the boat to the bottom that shows where your lure is at and the fish coming at it or going after it. Additionally, he has electric downriggers, too.
He nets the fish, too.
Now it's my turn for fish on!
OK, not as big as my father's but it still put up a nice fight.

I think Loons are a good sign. It means there's a lot bait fish in the vicinity.
